Scene: School Hallway
Nicole is telling Ian, Jillian and Reggie about Frannie Fortune
stopping by the station to see her. They are skeptical.
Jillian:
You're singing backup for
Frannie Fortune?
Reggie:
C'mon Nicole use a little imagination.
Belinda Carlyle maybe.
Whitney Houston....
Nicole:
I swear she came to the studio last night!
Reggie:
Yeah right!
And what did she offer Ian- a road managers job?
Ian:
Hey!
Nicole:
Tell them Ian.
He must have seen her on the way out...
Ian:
The way I feel about Frannie Fortune.
I could bumped into her in the loo
and not noticed!
Ian leaves them.
As he rounds the corner,
Frannie Fortune steps out of the elevator.
Frannie:
Hey Kid, you know where
I can find Nicole Chapman?
Ian:
Oh yeah - she's right around
the corner at the lockers.
Frannie:
Thanks!
Ian starts walking away and then turns
around again...
Scene: School Radio Station
Ian is changing records.
Ian:
Ian Ware again filling in again for Nicole
Chapman.
Still to come....The Smiths;
the Replacements and
Public Image Limited.
None of them will perform a single number
even remotely connected with Frannie Fortune.
Ian:
But first this important commercial annoucement.
He rolls his chair away ....
and gives
the microphone to Danny & Jesse.
Danny:
If you're of legal age but under fifty.
We've got a guy you think is nifty.
Jesse:
Rough and tough. yet gentle too.
He needs a date bad.
How about you?
Danny:
Lonely, depressed?
Home on a Saturday night?
Ladies you can change all that.
Act now and you enjoy the
date of your dreams.
Just pick up the phone and
Jesse & Danny: <singing>
Call 555-1814
If you want a guy who you'll adore!
Ian:
Our phone lines are open...
Ian pushes the microphone away...
Danny & Jesse pull it back and
show Ian his lines...Ian balks at first
Ian: <whispering>
No!
Finally he sighs and reads from the paper...
Ian: <reluctantly singing>
Don't be shy..
He's quite a guy...
Scene: School Radio Station
Ian is putting away tapes.
Nicole is DJ.
Ian:
You know I never thought I'd be
saying this but it's good to have you back.
Nicole:
Even if I'm not playing you're kind of music?
He leans over her.
Ian:
Well, I'm still working on you.
Aren't I?
Nicole: <attempting to mimic his accent>
Maybe I'm still working on you.
Ian:
I thought you were off the oldies circuit?
Nicole:
I am.
Ian:
Good.
Nicole:
Hi, Nicole Chapman again.
Following Joanie Bartlett with a very special piece.
If as they say a picture is worth a thousand words,
then a song is worth at least a story.
And this one has quite a story behind it.
It's about a tough old broad who really isn't that tough.
And a young girl who is maybe a little younger than she thought
She learned a big lesson.
Success doesn't mean a damn thing
if you've lost yourself along the way.
Ian:
That was the weirdest intro I've ever heard..
You didn't even mention who's singing the song...
He listens to the song for a moment
Ian:
...the new Frannie Fortune?!
Nicole:
Better than ever!
Ian groans.
He wheels his chair over to her and
listens again for a minute to
the song
Ian:
It's not exactly the Ramones' is it?
Ian:
But it's not half bad...
Nicole pushes him off his chair.
