Mom
Why are the words so hard to find
Maybe it’s because you are
Always there for me
Knowing what I need sometimes before I do
So I
Trust you to know how I feel about you
But that’s wrong
You taught me
Everything
The importance of giving voice to my
Feelings
Telling the people you care about
How much they mean to you
Saying I love you
Everyday

But is it enough?
Do you know why?
Do you know how much
I count on you?
How much you’ve given me
Inspired me
You are the wind beneath my wings
Letting me fly on my own
But you’ve also been the eagle carrying me safely
Home
When there is too much pain
Too much to bear
Too many Mickey Mouse Doctors
Too many despicable people

You are the fresh glass of water
When I’m nearing the end of the race and
Don’t think I can make it anymore

You’re the one in my corner
Wiping the sweat from my brow
Cursing my enemies to bloody hell

You’re not just the shoulder I cry on
You are the hand wiping away my tears
The Arm giving me strength
The Heart aching along with my own
The Voice of understanding
The Spirit giving me hope again

Mom, I’m sorry
I wanted this poem to be the
Best
Because that’s
What you deserve
But you know what?
I’ll keep writing and
Trying
Striving
To write one for you someday
Because that’s something else
That you give to me
The belief in myself
And the dream
That I can be the person that I want to be.
The person that you see in me.
