Assassins also received awards for Best Revival
of a Musical, Joe Mantello - Best Director of a Musical,
Michael Starobin- Best Orchestrations and Jules
Fisher & Peggy Eisenhauer -Best Lighting Design.
Michael said of the nomination: " This is the best part of
the whole process as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't really feel
like a competition. It's just sort of a nice acknowledgement especially
this year, to be nominated with so many friends. This is such
an ensemble show. I would have happily not been nominated alone
if it meant we could all share one big acknowledgement as a company.
We depend on each other so much and support each other so much
and all of our performances are truly accumulations of what everyone
else is doing as well."

was also named as Best Featured Actor in a Musical

Booth in Assassins.
From
"dynamic", "swashbuckling" and "matinee
idol" to "coldly compelling" "violence seems
to drip from his teeth when he speaks"..."the pinnacle
of the pantheon in this Satanic vaudeville". Since it's opening
last month, critics have singled out Michael's hauntingly complex
performance.
Other nominees in the Featured actor category include: John Cariani,
Fiddler on the Roof; Raúl Esparza, Taboo;
Michael McElroy, Big River and Michael's fellow assassin
Denis O'Hare (Charles Guiteau).
