An
Assassin's Coattails

By Jason Zinoman
In the current revival of "Assassins," John Wilkes Booth,
played by Michael Cerveris, tells his side of the story. But two
forthcoming plays describe how the lives of actors more peripheral
to Lincoln's murder in Ford's Theater were affected. The multimedia
show "The Booth Variations," which starts performances
on Aug. 4 at 59E59 Theaters, follows the career of the popular American
actor Edwin Booth, who had the misfortune of being John Wilkes's
brother. The production is a family affair: Mr. Cerveris offers
yet another spin on the role of Lincoln's assassin in a video performance.
And Todd Cerveris, his brother, plays Edwin.
